Accelerated Amma Program – It’s Not Too Late To Be A Part of our Amma Program!
An accelerated program isn’t for everybody, but if training as an Amma Bodywork Therapists is something you are ready to commit to, it might be right choice for you.
Beginning in January, we are offering an accelerated track to complement the professional Amma Bodywork Therapy certification program that began in August.
Accelerated Program Structure
Accelerated Amma Program students take the first two program segments (segments 1 & 2) concurrently. Classes begin on January 8th and continue through May 3rd, 2014. Segment 2 classes meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays with the current Amma Program students. On Thursdays, Accelerated Program students will take segment 1 classes, with some additional make-up hours to be scheduled. At minimum, Accelerated students need to commit to 3 full days of classes for some 15 weeks.
After the intersession break in May, you will be on track with the entire Amma program group and study on the same regular program schedule beginning with segment 3, which starts on May 14th.
A few more notes
To join the accelerated program, you will need to take Introduction to Wholistic Nutrition when it is next offered. To complete your first semester of Qigong, which is part of the Amma program, you can practice in one of our ongoing movement classes or via an approved class source.
The core tuition is the same as for the regular program.
The next Amma Program is tentatively scheduled to start in the Fall of 2014.
Dedicated? Ready to start?
If you feel ready to commit to the accelerated program, the next steps for you are:
1. Contact Rachael in the office to initiate the application process.
2. Sit in on at least one class with the current student group.
3. Interview with Rylen to discuss your candidacy.
A Student’s Perspective
We asked Corrina Snow, graduate of the last Accelerated Amma Program offering, to provide a firsthand view of what the experience is really like. Here’s what she had to say.
“Patience and beginner’s mind are the first things that come to mind when I think back to the first three months in the Amma (Accelerated) Program. Patience with myself at not knowing or understanding this new language right away and patience that I would, in time, understand it all. I was lucky in that I had a lot of time to focus on studying, which was critical to my success in those early months. My suggestion to anyone considering taking the accelerated path, simplify your life and jump into the program with both feet. I had an amazing experience in the program and credit my success to lots of dedicated time, structured study groups with my peers, patience from myself and great support from my partner.”
