The burning of an herb called mugwort (aka ‘moxa’) over areas of the body including acupuncture points, brings warmth, increases circulation, and expel dampness and cold. We use this technique for conditions such as poor digestion, achiness in the joints, low energy, sensations of being cold, asthma, diarrhea or constipation and we even have a very exciting and effective protocols for turning breech babies, staunching bleeding and promoting labor! We will share several different applications and tools to apply moxa, and practice in this fun, informative, practical, hands on class.

We will cover: History, materials and tool needed, where to find them, properties and functions of the techniques, specific treatment protocols, contraindications, and proper after-care. All technique will be thouroghly demonstrated and there will be ample hands-on practice for all of the participants.

* Please wear loose fitting clothing. Eg: Shorts or pants where the legs can easily be rolled up exposing the quadraceps and shirt or  tops without zippers and buttons. Proper draping and privacy will be strictly reviewed and applied.

* You need to be a licensed practitioner (massage therapist, acupuncturist, chiropractor, etc) or currently enrolled in a licensing program to take this class.

This Moxibustion class is part of a series that you can take individually or together. The classes in the series are: a. Fire Cupping, b. Moxibustion, c. Gua Sha, and d. Auricular Therapy (ear seeds) and the use of the TDP lamp, and Topicals & Liniments.
