Global Meditation 2017: Let’s Peace It Together
2016 was a challenging year. It has left many of us feeling unsettled and unsure of how to feel empowered and positive with the coming New Year and beyond. Enter Iris Moon, local Portland musician, peace ambassador and lovely human being! Iris approached us about doing a weekly community meditation class in 2017 specifically aimed at creating peace and without hesitation we said, “Yes!” What a great opportunity for us to come together as a community and do something positive and proactive. Are you feeling anxious and uncertain about your future and our future together?
Come and experience mindfulness meditation – a powerful way to refocus your energy on cultivating inner peace. Through this practice, we can rediscover the beauty of life in the present moment and become the change we want to see in the world. Because, when we practice together as a community, the peaceful calming energy is greatly amplified.
It all begins January 9th and continues every Monday for the rest of the year through December 18th (no classes 3/27, 5/29 & 9/4). This is a safe, supportive and respectful environment for adults to come and feel at ease while:
* Learning simple mindful meditations to bring peace into the present moment.
* Feeling more calm and peaceful, for a greater sense of wellbeing.
* Participating in a peaceful community action to extend peace out into our world.
Our year-long journey will be guided by renowned peace activist Thich Nhat Hahn as the weekly meditations are from his book “Moments of Mindfulness.” He has inspired millions of people across the globe to follow the path of peace and now his messages will inspire us on our walk of peace together. As a devoted peace ambassador and local Portland musician, I am honored to be leading the group and will use simple melodies to magnify the sound vibration of the mindful messages.

The sessions are FREE and no meditation experience is necessary. You can drop in on any Monday and attend the weekly sessions as desired. The Wellspring School for Healing Arts is generously providing their beautiful space for this community meditation.
Please bring a mat or cushion for your seat. Access to the 2nd floor is by indoor stairs only. There is free on-street parking available.
