Ellen Goldsmith, MSOM, L.Ac., Dip. C.H., is Co-founder of Pearl Natural Health, a naturopathic, acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic in downtown Portland. She is a graduate of the NUNM’s (National University of Natural Medicine) Classical Chinese Medicine program, with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine, is licensed as an acupuncturist, and certified in Chinese herbal therapy. She teaches Chinese Dietetics and its application in practice for NUNM’s College of Classical Chinese medicine and is currently adjunct faculty for the Masters of Science of Nutrition program. She is passionate about creating courses, programs and presentations that cultivate body/mind health and engage people through food as medicine, mindfulness and self-transformation. Her international teaching has trained hundreds of health practitioners in the field of Asian bodywork, self-transformation, and End of Life Care. She was formerly adjunct faculty at NYU’s – Tisch School of the Arts in the drama department where she developed the course Optimizing Performance for undergraduate drama students to improve body awareness, focus, energy and presence.
She has hosted the podcast Health Currents Radio and is currently a monthly hoston Portland’s Pacifica radio station’s show Healthwatch (KBOO) the second Monday of each month.
Ellen’s commitment to increasing the public’s access to naturopathic and Chinese medicine is highlighted by her 12 years of service on NUNM’s board of directors, functioning on the Executive Committee and as its chair, as well as her 8-year tenure on the Acupuncture Advisory Committee to the Oregon Medical Board.
Her book Nutritional Healing with Chinese Medicine will be published in Fall of 2017.
